Green Smoothies Challenge

For the month of July I wanted to set myself a little challenge - to drink a green smoothie every day. I had them most often for breakfast but had them for lunch a few times to suit my schedule. I am happy to say I have successfully completed this personal challenge. It was hard at times (especially as the temperature in the kitchen at 6h30 am was less than 15 degrees on some cold winter days) and also to keep myself excited and interested in them. I tweaked my recipe a few times to keep it interesting and also made some for 2-3 days so I had no excuses on some cold Monday mornings. I also found it easy to bring a pre made bottle to work to have at my desk and enjoy an extra 20 min sleep. 

I would say the main benefits of drinking green smoothies for 30 days would be having so much fruit and veggies at the start of the day - they would keep me full and I have been feeling great, energised and did not catch any colds despite them going around in the office!

My Green Smoothies recipe:
(in the order I put it in the blender)

water ( 1 cup or more depending on serving size)
a dash of cinnamon/ turmeric
2 tsp maca powder
1 tsp psylium husk
1 tbsp LSA mix
1 tsp spirulina
2 dates
1/2 banana
1-2 kiwis
1/2 pear / or 1 orange / or 4 strawberries
1 big handful of spinach
mint/ginger/lemon juice/coconut optional
