3rd Trimester Nesting Ideas
So nesting started a little early for me. Most women experience "nesting" in the last few weeks of pregnancy as a way to get their home ready for the new addition.
I have now been on maternity leave for 3 weeks and have achieved quite a lot. My house is cleaned, the nursery is ready, the freezer is full and the pantry well organised!
I am not a nesting expert but I thought it could be helpful for other mums-to-be to share what I have done while on maternity leave apart from watching 3 seasons of Orange Is The New Black on Netflix!
Nesting Ideas:
- Hired a cleaner! Being able to hire a cleaner once a fortnight has been amazing. Nothing like coming home to clean home and not having to do a thing! plus the risks of going into preterm labor with twins are not worth the risks of cleaning the floors yourself.
- Reorganised my pantry. Such a gooood feeling!
- Reorganised my bathroom cabinet. Love getting rid of clutter and stuff I don't use anymore.
- Moved furniture around to make room for babies bouncing seats and other stuff! I also added a coffee table as I think I will be sitting on the couch a lot in the middle of the night breastfeeding my twins and will need somewhere to put down phone, water, snacks and more.
- Restocked all my jars of nuts and seeds- very important!
- Stocked up on laundry detergent, toilet paper, soaps and other home products.
- Made a big new batch of grain free coconut granola to have on hand for the coming weeks.
- Cooked up a storm and put in the freezer the following dishes in individual portions (some of them I only froze one portion when I had leftovers). I wish I could add more but my freezer is full!
- Paleo sweet potato Lasagna
- Indian Dhal
- Sweet Potato/pumpkin soup
- Homemade pizza
- Lamb Shank Soup
- Vegetarian Mexican Chilli
- Moroccan Beans Tagine
- 2 bags of frozen bananas
- 1 loaf of spelt bread
- Packed my hospital bag- with the help of Mamabags generous gift.
- Packed a baby bag for twins- even though they might not need much if they go to the special care nursery.
- Washed and ironed all the tiny baby and newborn clothes I have. I haven't washed the bigger sizes yet.
- Reading- I have read 2 parenting books- one about sleep routines and the other completely different about being more of a go with the flow type of mum. I will do another blog post about the books I have enjoyed reading about pregnancy and motherhood.
- Baking- I have made some cookies- new recipe coming tomorrow!
I hopefully still have a few more days at home being pregnant so I would love to hear what you did during your maternity leave or if I have missed anything important in the comments below.
