Healthy Salted Caramel
Healthy Salted Caramel Recipe: (makes 2 cups)
Ingredients:
- 1 cup of dates
- 1 cup of water
- 1/2 tsp of vanilla powder
- 2 tsp of sea salt- I used Pink Himalayan salt.
Instructions:
- Soak dates in water overnight;
- Rinse dates;
- Mix dates with water in a blender or food processor until smooth;
- Add in vanilla and salt;
- Keep in the fridge for 1-2 weeks.
This healthy salted caramel paste is delicious with a sliced apple, on top of a fruit salad, granola, in chocolate recipes or on its own with a spoon! To enjoy in moderation due to the high natural sugar content of the dates. ( I have the perfect treat recipe coming up on the blog this week using this salted caramel!)
This recipe was inspired by recipes I have seen online of simple caramel made of date paste.
