Healthy Salted Caramel Recipe: (makes 2 cups)

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of dates 
  • 1 cup of water
  • 1/2 tsp of vanilla powder
  • 2 tsp of sea salt- I used Pink Himalayan salt.

Instructions:

  1. Soak dates in water overnight;
  2. Rinse dates;
  3. Mix dates with water in a blender or food processor until smooth;
  4. Add in vanilla and salt;
  5. Keep in the fridge for 1-2 weeks.
This healthy salted caramel paste is delicious with a sliced apple, on top of a fruit salad, granola, in chocolate recipes or on its own with a spoon! To enjoy in moderation due to the high natural sugar content of the dates. ( I have the perfect treat recipe coming up on the blog this week using this salted caramel!)

This recipe was inspired by recipes I have seen online of simple caramel made of date paste.
